Here it is the year of 2009 and I take a look back on my life in the 1

Here it is the year of 2009 and I take a look back on my life in the 1950’s. I remember when I was younger and I was learning how to drive. Back in the old days an auto was the term my parents used when looking for a car for me. Now we call them cars, and when you mention an auto, everyone looks at you and wonders what you are talking about.
The change of clothing, the knowledge, the words we use, all has changed. People would say I am getting in to my auto to go to town to get a soda, now you are saying get in the car to get a pop. Although I will have to say back then, you didn’t just hop in your auto to go to town. You mainly did things once a week.
I also remember my first scooter. My legs got so tired of pushing that scooter up a hill, and now they have electric scooters. My scooter was painted orange so everyone could see me, when I was on the sidewalk. My neighbor just bought her son a scooter, and all you do is turn a key for it to start. He had no problems going up a big hill, or even a long drive way.
We actually had a lot of fun back in the years, compared to what kids are doing now. Almost every day you read about an accident with a car or a truck. You would never read in the paper that Mrs. Long had an accident with a truck and $2000 damage done to her auto. You would not hear she owns a 2004 Buick Century auto.
I was talking to my neighbor one day, and she was in a hurry to take her son to get his permit so he could drive. The first time he took it he didn’t pass it. I think she said he missed 2 questions too many. Took him down a second time and again he did not pass it. Now she is taking him down again and she said if he does not pass it this time, he can wait until he is 15 to try it again. Well, Mike did pass his permit test to get his permit. My neighbor and I could not believe what driving lessons cost these days. I think they went up $150 since we took them.
Well I have talked long enough so had better get back to making dinner for the family before they get home. They will all be starved, as usual.
